Nassau County Police say two 15-year-old males were approached by an adult male and three juvenile males at the Sunrise Mall in Massapequa (850 Sunrise Highway) on Monday, Nov. 18 around 7 p.m.
The suspects allegedly demanded the victim to give him a pair of earphones, police say.
The victim refused and attempted to walk away when one of the suspects allegedly pulled out a knife and threatened the victims, who were then able to alert mall security, according to police.
The four suspects allegedly fled on foot but were located by responding officers a short distance later on Carmans Road.
The four suspects were arrested without incident, and police say no injuries have been reported.
The adult male, identified as Tavares Redd, 18, of Amityville, as well as the three male juvenile suspects, were charged with the following:
- First-degree robbery
- Second-degree menacing
- Fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon
- Second-degree attempted robbery
- Fourth-degree attempted grand larceny
Redd and two of the juvenile suspects were arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Tuesday, Nov. 19. The other juvenile suspect was arraigned at Family Court.
